Vera Kolmogorova, Andrei Kolmogorov's aunt, was born in 1863 in Yaroslavl. She was baptized in the Church of All Saints. She graduated from the Mariinskaya Gymnasium and completed the teaching courses. After her younger sister Mariya died, she adopted her nephew. Until 1910, Vera lived with her other sisters and little Andrei in the family estate in Tunoshna, where the aunts opened a school to teach local children of different ages using the latest teaching methods. In 1910, Vera and Andrei moved to Moscow.
